Type dbt 500W Operation
It is important that the dbt-500W location is optimised for maximum performance. There
should be a minimum of obstructions in the sight line between dbt-500W and the receiver.
Obstructions such as trees and in particular buildings will reduce the radio transmission
range.
The dbt-500W should also be positioned for best detection and minimum false activations.
This is best achieved by fitting the detector at the correct height (2.5m) while avoiding
pointing it towards reflecting surfaces such as windows, cars, water etc. Ensure foliage
cannot grow directly in front of the lens. The lens pattern may be modified by covering certain
sections of the lens with the 'lens occluder label' supplied with this unit. Where small animals
cause false alarms the bottom row of the lens array should be covered. In extreme cases
the middle row may also be covered. To reduce beam angle on one or either side of the lens
use the short strips and position them vertically to the side of the lens array.
