ETHER-COM
The ETHER-COM is a multiprotocol serial server that provides Ethernet connections for personal computers, terminals,
modems, and devices that would not otherwise be connected to a network.
The ETHER-COM can be used in conjunction with Unix, NetWare, Windows NT, OS/2, and VMS hosts. Instead of requiring
the user to enter commands for connection manipulation, the ETHER-COM acts as a directly-attached serial device on the
host.
The ETHER-COM can be used to start outbound Ethernet connections to hosts on IPX/SPX, TCP/IP, and LAT networks. It
can also provide interactive access to a device connected to its serial port. However, unlike traditional print servers, the
ETHER-COM does not provide printing protocols such as LPR, RTEL, and PCONSOLE, or queueing support.
